Who is Jacob Grimes?

I am at heart just a car guy who loves taking pictures. That has now turned into something so big I never thought I'd be doing what I do now. I have been taking photos since 2013 and what I needed to take my photography to the next level was a truck that can quite literally take me to the next level. I needed to be able to go anywhere I wanted in order to heighten my creativity limit. On top of my truck helping me with photography, it has given me tenfold the great memories and experiences that any car has done for me in the past. I'm able to go wherever I want with my friends and my other half.

Tell us about your Chevy Colorado.

I chose the Colorado ZR2 because of what it offered and the reason it was developed in the first place. I have always bought the top-of-the-line or most track-focused trim I could on my past vehicles. Once I saw the ZR2 release I knew it was finally time to make the switch from sports cars to an off-road-ready 4WD beast that is still small and tossable while looking more sporty than any of its competition. In my opinion, the ZR2 punches way above its weight not only in terms of off-road capability and dynamics but with looks as well. If I am going to make the switch from cars to trucks, it needs to be worth it for me and I put faith in the ZR2 and put in my order, the rest is history.

What TUWA Pro products do you have and how have you set them up?

I have a Tuwa Pro Shiprock mid-height bed rack. I loved the look of the rack and the height is a big factor for me. I was able to mount a tent on top and still look race-inspired which is what I was going for with this build. To fit the rest of my "prelander" inspiration, I mounted up multiple accessories onto my rack. I have a fire extinguisher, traction boards, water and storage from Rotopax, and a shovel. All of this and my RTT still come in at a weight that the rack can handle with no problem. I have all of this on my rack and still looks nice and sleek while still being able to fit in my garage. I have the 4CX support bars to mount the tent with, traction board mounts, and two Rotopax mounts. Every accessory I have on the rack is also fixed with Tuwa Pro hardware to keep everything uniform and tight.

What is a bucket list adventure for you?

If I could do any adventure in my ZR2 I think it would be either the Redwoods or Yosemite. While I haven't heard of these two places being as popular as Moab or Glamis in terms of off-road reputation, I want to go there for photography. I have always had this vision ever since I bought the ZR2, that I want it parked right in front of a Redwood tree so big that the truck is smaller than the base of the tree. The light coming in from one side shining on all of the trees in the background and dewey moss in the foreground. With everything red, brown, and green, the truck would stand out from its surroundings perfectly. I will make this photo happen, follow along on our adventures and you can see me post it when I do.
